Principal’s Message

Welcome to Garrison Elementary School, a small school with a big heart! Our experienced, professional staff and PTO are committed to making our school the center of our community, where parents, students, and neighbors can come to learn skills, socialize, participate in organized and safe recreational activities, and enjoy concerts and programs. Our beautiful, park-like campus is superb for sports and family recreational activities.

We celebrate our rich diversity in ethnicities, languages, and socioeconomic status, which all contribute to the exciting and positive culture of our school.

We have a strong focus on the California Content Standards infused with the arts disciplines. This fusion creates an exciting educational environment that supports the growth and development of the whole child , establishing a balance between the federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) mandates that emphasize test-taking skills in reading, math, and science and a child’s need to explore and participate in disciplines that are not assessed/ by standardized testing. As a result, Garrison has steadily raised its Academic Performance Index (API) score over each of the past six years, and we have consistently met our NCLB and state API accountability requirements, despite the challenges of a large number of English Learners and low socioeconomic status students.
